KEA New Zealand's Global Talent Community

Dear Kea Member

KEA'S FESTIVAL OF KIWI SHORT FILMS

See the New Zealand short films you hear so much about but never get to see.  We're showing them on the big screen in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne.

Now in its second year, Kea Australia is proud to host the Festival of Kiwi Short Films, showcasing the diversity and quality of New Zealand's most awarded and interesting short films (each short film is around 10 minutes long).  Come early to share a glass of New Zealand Giesen wine before the screening, and then during the screening you'll enjoy New Zealand goodies from the Kea goodie bag.

Kea supports and embraces New Zealand achievements of all kinds.  Keep in touch with home, and show off your country to your Australian mates.  Don't miss the show.  The line up is as follows:

Tama Tu
Written and directed by Taika Waititi
Young Maori Battalion soldiers wait for night to fall in the ruins of a war-torn Italian home. Forced into silence, they keep themselves amused as any boys would, with jokes and laughter. As they try and ignore the reminders of war around them, a sign brings them back to the world of the dying.

Noise Control
Written and directed by Phill Simmonds

The true story of a rooster who pays the price for keeping his neighbours awake.

 Run
Written by Louis Sutherland and directed by Mark Albiston
A brother and sister conquer their fears by overcoming their differences.

Coffee and Allah
Written by Shuchi Kothari and directed by Sima Urale
When a cup of coffee is a gift from Allah. An Ethiopian Muslim woman's appetite for coffee, Islam and a good game of badminton.

Finalist of 48 HOURS furious film festival - New Zealand
 Directed by Ant Timpson
48 HOURS is New Zealand's largest film competition. It's a cinematic bootcamp but instead of a drill sergeant screaming obscenities at them, it's the constant tick-tock of the clock drilling into film maker's mushy brains. Simply put, filmmaking teams have just one weekend to make a short film.

And now we get to see one of the finalists on the big screen in Australia.
